Binding Tariff Information RTC

A decision fixing the tariff classification of goods, enforceable throughout the Union.

Why it matters: it settles the classification and removes the risk of a later reassessment.

Scope

BTI binds the customs authorities of every Member State of the Union.

Take care

BTI is annulled where it was issued on the basis of inaccurate or incomplete information supplied by the applicant.

How to file

Since 1 October 2019 the procedure has been entirely digital, through the EU Customs Trader Portal.

Samples

Any samples are sent physically. The reference of your application must appear clearly on the samples and in the accompanying letter.
