Comprehensive guarantee CGU

A single guarantee covering several operations, instead of one guarantee per operation. It may be reduced, or even waived.

Why it matters: less capital tied up. A waiver generally presupposes AEOC status.

You may need more than one CGU

Depending on geographical scope and on the nature of the procedures, one operator may have to obtain up to four separate CGU authorisations:

What you must supply

A calculation of the debts by procedure, comprising: CN code of the goods, value, quantity, type of duty, excise rates, average discharge period, amounts by procedure and — where cross-border — amounts by Member State.

Documents required in every case

- Criminal record extract less than one month old — the applicant, the person responsible for or exercising control over the management, and the employee responsible for customs matters. (Natural person: from the municipal administration. Company: from the SPF Justice — the Belgian federal justice department — Central Criminal Records, together with the extract from the Moniteur belge recording the appointment.)
- Waived if you are an AEO.
